Cultural work has been a part in leftist movements as long as they have existed. However, its many roles within the wider strategies and tactics of resistance is frequently overlooked. We have invited several long-time actvisits and cultural workers from many geographical, social, and otherwise contexts, to talk about their experience, share approaches, discuss difficulties, and search together for a deeper understanding of its many roles.
Iconography and posters, chants, slogans and songs, theater and performative actions, and many more — cultural work has taken on many forms in resistance movements. In each one, it supports struggles in more ways than might be obvious. From recruitment and outreach, to spreading knowledge, to being an healthy outlet for many emotions, it shapes movements and how they are understood.
Join us to practice and discuss the many intricacies of these processes, together with activists from several generations, places, and experiences.
