Solidarity at Sea - Central Mediterranean Migration route

This presentation focusses on looking at the different actors at play in the Central Mediterranean. To this day still the deadliest migration route in the world. With Europe’s border control Frontex still actively working together with known Libyan human traffickers and Italy working on a ‘deal’ with Albania to prevent people making crossing from even entering European soil. In this presentation we will take a look at how these political powers will do anything to stop people on the move from entering Europe. A particular focus will be on the role of the civil fleet, and how they record what is happening at the high seas, while actively being obstructed by Italy and Europe in their recordings of human rights violations and performing rescues at sea.
