Basic needs for all! Healthy food should not be a privilege, but the way our current food system is shaped we can’t ignore that this is a fact. Fresh vegetables, free of pesticides, are too expensive for most of us, while agribusiness multi-national corporations are concentrating on money and power. (Agricultural) land prices are outrageously expensive, making it very hard for, especially small scale farming projects, to have access to land. Meanwhile, biodiversity is rapidly declining and individualism is rising. We believe this has to change.
Last year we started up a self-harvest garden (CSA) on a squatted piece of land. In our 0.7 hectare veggie garden we are growing resistance to our current food system and are eating the fruits of taking matters into our own hands. We are growing organic veggies in community, free from pesticides, free from chemical fertilizers and free from animal manure. We are gardening in a free space, free from market logic (what do we have to eat otherwise during the revolution?!). Both risks and rewards we are sharing with the garden members and hope to be able to feed many people in the area, learn from each other and just generally have good time growing resistance.
We are happy to share our story and talk about the fucked-up food system, so join us if you like to eat veggies sometimes. We will try to make it fun :D
